Krafton, the developers behind PUBG, have announced that their upcoming game, an extraction shooter named ‘Project Black Budget,’ will launch in 2024.
This announcement was made during their latest financial call, where it was specified that the game is set to release in the latter half of 2024.
Details about the project are scarce, but it is confirmed to be an extraction-based shooter.
This game joins the growing trend of extraction shooters that have emerged in recent years, indicating the industry's belief that this genre is gaining popularity.
Despite this trend, many extraction shooters have struggled to resonate with players. Both Call of Duty and Battlefield have recently ventured into this genre, only to cease support shortly after their releases.
However, Krafton and its teams have a track record of success, with several developers of ‘Black Budget’ having worked on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).
PUBG achieved massive success, breaking numerous global records, including becoming the first game to reach 2 million concurrent players on Steam and still holding the record for the highest number of concurrent players on Steam with 3.2 million.
Whether Krafton can successfully break into the extraction shooter market remains to be seen, but the teaser image suggests they are taking a new direction with this game.
