Marvel's 'Deadpool & Wolverine' Makes History at Global Box Office, Grossing Rs 3650 Crore Worldwide

The audiences have spoken! Fans worldwide have flocked to theatres to celebrate 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' propelling the film to a staggering Rs. 3650 crores in its opening weekend, making it the top opening film of 2024. In India, it collected an impressive Rs. 83.28 crore in its first weekend, surpassing the lifetime earnings of both 'Deadpool 1' (Rs. 40.79 crore GBOC) and 'Deadpool 2' (Rs. 69.94 crore GBOC), hinting at a continuous successful run.

With a dynamic duo leading the charge, stellar cameos, comedy, action, and more, this action-packed entertainer has become the prime choice for moviegoers, bringing crowds back to theatres with enthusiasm.

Marvel Studios' 'Deadpool & Wolverine' is available in cinemas in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

The film has set off with a supercharged start, breaking the Thursday preview record for an R-rated movie by selling an estimated $38.5 million in tickets, Disney reported. The previous record-holder, 'Deadpool 2,' earned $18.6 million from Thursday previews and $125.5 million over its first weekend.

The previews for 'Deadpool & Wolverine' were more comparable to major hits like 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' ($40 million) and 'Avengers: Infinity War' ($39 million) than the previous 'Deadpool' films.

The release of 'Deadpool & Wolverine' has been highly anticipated by audiences and theater owners alike. The overall box office is down 17% from last year, partly due to the actors' strike affecting the release schedule and a lack of major hits. Compared to pre-pandemic 2019, the 2024 box office is down over 34%.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' is also the first Marvel movie of the summer season—a crucial 123-day earnings period for Hollywood that typically accounts for about 40% of the annual box office total. Unlike many recent summers, this year did not kick off with a blockbuster Marvel film, and the industry has been struggling to regain its footing since.
