Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence on Tuesday that India would become the world’s third-largest economy during his third term, citing the country’s impressive 8% growth rate.
“We have taken India to new heights even after battling the pandemic,” he remarked at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) post-budget conference.

He emphasized that capital expenditure had grown over five times to more than Rs 11.11 lakh crore in the same period. He pointed out that India stands out with its high growth and low inflation, contributing 16% to global growth.
Addressing industry leaders, PM Modi stressed the enthusiasm of global investors keen to enter India, urging the nation to seize this “golden chance.”
“I am confident you will make India a global player in sunrise sectors,” he asserted.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the government's focus on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) due to their significant job creation potential. He highlighted that India boasts over 1.4 lakh startups and mentioned that the MUDRA loan program has enabled 8 crore people to start their own businesses.
Reflecting on India’s journey, Modi stated, “We gained independence as a poor nation, but we will celebrate the 100th year of Independence in 2047 as a developed country.”
